In response to the increasing incidence of cyber-bullying, online stalking and social networking dangers across the country, Be Cyber Smart & Stay Cyber Safe was launched by Protective Countermeasures Consulting, Inc., a authority on the risks associated with online activities.
The group said the mission of Be Cyber Smart & Stay Cyber Safe is to educate both adults and children on the dangers of social networking and how individuals can protect themselves from being stalked, bullied or harassed online. The program will also take on select "angel cases," which will be handled on a pro-bono basis.
As part of the program, which will travel to major cities across the country, subject matter experts will speak at schools, youth organizations, parent associations and to other groups about the issue of cyber-safety, what to do if you are a victim and preventing online problems from becoming offline dangers. Also addressed will be the long-term impact of being a cyber-bully and the consequences of harassing others online.

"Adults and children need to be educated on preventative measures to reduce the chances that they will be victimized, as well as how to respond if they do become a target."
